Learning from Nature: Evolutionary and Hybrid E –learning Methodologies in Engineering

Evolutionary and bio-logically inspired algorithms have become one of the established artifacts to consolidate the intelligent and adaptive techniques. The groups of algorithms are primarily self organized and adaptive, their collective phenomena lead to global optimization. They envisage from ant, termite, birds, fish, bacteria and swarm schools. It has been observed that the hybridization of these techniques with classical intelligent tools like Fuzzy Set, Rough Set and Genetic Algorithm could perform more deterministic throughput and relevant simulation can accomplish new dimensions. The features of evolutionary and hybrid heuristic provide a good understanding about learning, recommendation and means, and as a result of their experience and educationally related domain knowledge, many of them create primary learning objects (PLO) and gradually these objects could be reinforced by the follower learners, if context, reference and content can match the requirement. This behavior encourages many researchers to focus on developing e-learning systems with personalized learning mechanisms and provide a suitable learning and recommendation path both on the web and off the web paradigm.

This special session will attempt to bring together researchers and practitioners to a common platform and will create a forum to discuss the latest development in this application. Authors are invited to submit their original and unpublished work to this Special Session.
