Short Biography
Fred's research interests include the design and Implementation of Energy aware routing algorithms for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), Security issues in MANET and e-Healthcare, application of mobile computing to healthcare, high performance e-commerce, Knowledge Management and development of culturally sensitive educational models (Ireland, China and Tanzania). He is currently supervising postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level. He has authored and co-authored over 60 scientific publications in algorithm design, energy aware mobile ad hoc networks, Computer Games, Computer Education and Security. He is a team leader of the Ubiquitous Computing Research Group (UCRG) at the School of Computing, Dublin Institute of Technology. He has organized and chaired peer-reviewed international conferences in Computer Games: AI, Animation, Mobile, Educational & Serious Games and Internet Technology and Secured Transactions. He is a professional member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE, IEEE Technical Committee and Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal for Digital Society (IJDS), Member of the Editorial Board of the Special issue of the Journal of Computer Science and International Journal of Internet Technology and Secured Transactions (IJITST).

Fred's industrial experience involves analysis, design and implementation of Management Information Systems in two large Banks (i.e., National Bank of Commerce and Akiba Commercial Bank) and the Ministry of Labour and Children in Tanzania. He has participated in a number of projects which were sponsored by UNICEF and World Bank as a computer networking consultant. He has been researching in collaboration with one of the largest shopping chains Biashara Consumer Services (BCS) on the appropriate networking technologies they can use in their shopping chains in rural Tanzania.
