Short Biography |
Andreas König obtained a diploma in Electrical Engineering with the focus on computer architecture and VLSI-design in 1990 and a PhD degree in 1995 on Machine Learning, Vision Applications and Neural Hardware at Darmstadt University of Technology. He joined the Machine Vision Group, dept. Image- and Signal Interpretation, of FhG IOSB (former IITB) in 1995. In 1996 he was appointed Assistant Prof. (Hochschuldozent) for Electronic Devices at TU Dresden and established a group on intelligent integrated systems design with a focus on vision and robust solutions. In fall semester 2001/2002 additional temporary assignment as head of the chair Computer Engineering, CS dept., of TU Chemnitz. In 2003 appointment as Professor and Head of Institute of Integrated Sensor Systems, EIT dept., TU Kaiserslautern. Research in intelligent integrated multisensor systems design, application and corresponding design automation of technical cognition systems, based on machine learning, big data, and, in particular, bio- and cognitive-science-inspiration for architectures, adaptation, fault tolerance and learning capability for self-x systems in automotive, ambient intelligence, IoT, or Industry 4.0. He is Senior Member of the IEEE, Founder and Chair of the IEEE CIS German Chapter, member of the MIR-Labs, member of the ITG-Working Group 8.4.9: Microelectronics for Neural Networks (ITG-Fachgruppe 8.4.9: Mikroelektronik neuronaler Netze), Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Hybrid Intelligent Systems, Advisory Board Member of the International Journal of Knowledge-Based Engineering System, Editor of the EAAI journal. |
