Short Biography

Stefan Zander is a research associate at the Multimedia Information Systems research group of the Faculty of Computer Sciences at the University of Vienna.

He received a PhD degree from the University of Vienna in 2012, a Master of Science degree with distinction from the University of Central Lancashire, UK, in 2007, and a Master of Information Technology degree with distinction in Organizational Development with IT from the Department of Computer Science of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg, Germany, in 2006.

Stefan Zander participated in the EC FP6 research projects METOKIS, PROLIX, and the FFG-founded national research project MobiSem.

His research interests cover related fields of the

  • Semantic Web and Linked Data
  • Semantic technologies and information processing on mobile platforms
  • Context and context-aware computing in mobile environments
  • Mobile Augmented Reality

He gives lectures in the domain of

  • Multimedia Systems
  • Information Retrieval
  • Modelling Techniques and Methods
  • Practical courses in semantic information processing and management, mobile application development, and Semantic Web-related topics
