Prof.Dr.S.Andrews is the Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Dean R&,D, Mahendra Engineering colleges

He is a renowned rehabilitation Engineering Scientist with Cybernetics and Wearable computing as the area of specialization. He is the Author of the world famous book "Skin-close Computing and wearable Technology". His relentless service to the humanity can be categorized under Science and Engineering Technology, Human resource development to the nation and Socio economical development to the community. As a research supervisor in Information and Communication Engineering, of Anna University, Tamilnadu, he is presently supervising 8 PhD candidates and Leading the R & D Team on various state of art topics in Computer Engineering.

He has been recognized internationally as an Indian scientist who contributed immensely to the field of rehabilitation and security for the paralyzed, bedridden, physically challenged and seriously ill patients in a non-invasive way of ability augmentation for the improvement of their quality of life. His Innovations in this area won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum Award 2017*, the nation’s highest award of this category. He received further awards from IBM in year 2005 and 2006 for his projects. He is the recipient of “Distinguished Professor” award from AIRF and The best Engineering Teacher Award for the year 2017 from ISTE. He has received various funding grants from India and abroad for his research projects, supported and recognized by agencies including UGC and MSME. His outstanding contributions in these fields were recognized by many international reputed Journals and international conferences.  He has been organizing many international IEEE and other conferences and active speaker as well as member of their technical and organizing committees. As a technical member, participant, presenter, session chair, organizing committee member, member of editorial, chief editor, and as a chair person his contributions tend to a grant success always.  As a Lead scientist in Wearable Computing, he carries out his research in signals, cybernetics, control, robotics, assistive technology, affective computing and biomedical engineering and significantly contributing to the Indian research power. He is leading the AI & Deep learning research team in Mahendra engineering college at zonal level in leadingindia.ai project. With his 20+ years of international experience, he authored or co-authored more than 100 research papers and has written several books contributions, as well as profuse magazine and newspaper articles on scientific and general subjects.

Apart from rehabilitation, his researches of Potential Fishing Zones of Indian coast to help fishermen community draw a good attention nationwide. He further contributed his findings to combat cyber warfare and cyber terrorism, F-INSAS model of Indian future soldier system; Brain Machine Interface (EEG) based communication system for Locked in Patients, and Security systems for disabled people. He is an academic advisor to National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS), India.

As an innovative social and technological research, through a holistic and systemic approach, he found the relationship between the attitude and character of a child with the video games the child playing. Hence he developed a system with meditainment and a new word coined by him called innotainment to heal, enhance and direct the child’s intellectual brain activity towards constructive paths rather than destructive by developing games with healing components inside.
