Dr. Paramartha Dutta, presently a Professor in the Department of Cumputer
and System Sciences of Visva Bharati University, West Bengal, India did
his Bacelos and Masters in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute,
Calcutta in the years 1988 an 1990 respectively. After that, he completed
his Masters in Technology in Computer Science in 1993 from the same
Institute. Prof. Dutta served in various research projects funded by the
Govt. of India as Research Scientist in Indian Statistical
Institute, Calcutta and Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur
before he joined in the capacity of an Assistant Professor in the College
of Engineering and Management, Kolaghat in 1998. Later, in 2001, Prof.
Dutta switched over to the Kalyani Govt. Engineering College where he
became Professor in 2007. In the mean time, he completed his research
work in service and was awarded Ph D in Engineering from Bengal Engineering
and Science University, Shibpur in 2005. Prof. Dutta was offered a post
of Professor in the Department of Computer and System Sciences of Visva
Bharati University which he accepted and joined there in 2007. From then
onwards, he has been srving there. During the entire tenure of his
professional career, Prof. Dutta delivered as Head of the Departments he
used to belong to for about ten years. Apart from these, Prof. Dutta
remained associated as Visiting/Guest Faculty in different places including
Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, University of Kalyani,
Tripura University, National Institute of Management, Calcutta. Prof.
Dutta is Member of the Board of Studies of West Bengal University of
Technology, University of Kalyani and Member of School of Technology and
Management of the Assam University, Silchar. He also served as the Member
of Board of Moderation encompassing University of Kalyani, West Bengal
University of Technology, Tripura University, University of Burdwan, Visva
Bharati University. He has been nominated by the Ministry of Human
Resource and Development of the Govt. of India as the Member Expert
of the Selection Committee for award of Commonwealth Scholarship
offered by the Government of United Kingdom, 2010 and the Member Chairman
nominated by the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India of the
Review Committee of the Special assistance Programme in the Department
of Computer Science and Automaton, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
in November 2011. Prof. Dutta is also a Member of Scientific
Committee and Editorial Review Board on Engineering and Applied Sciences
of World Academy of Science Engineering and Technology. Prof. Dutta is
Life Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
(FIETE), Life Fellow of Optical Society of India (FOSI), Senior Member
of Associated Computing Machinery (SMACM), Senior Member of IEEE Computer
Society (SMIEEE), Life Senior Member of International Association of Engineering
(SMIAEng), Life Senior Member of International Association for Computer Science
and Information Technology (SMIACSIT), Life Member of Advanced Computing
and Communication Society (MACCS), Member of System Society of India
(MSSI), Life Senior Member of Computer Society of India (SMCSI), Life Member
of Indian Science Congress Association (LMISCA), Life Member of Indian
Society for Technical Education (LMISTE), Life Member of World Academy of
Science, Engineering and Technology (LMWASET), Life Member of Indian
Society of Remote Sensing (LMISRS) and Life Member of Indian Unit of
Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (LMIUPRAI).
Prof. Dutta has about 120 research papers published to his credit in different
peer reviewed International and National Journals as well as proceedings
of reputed International and National Conferences along with a few book
chapters. He has authored five books and has one edited book published.
In recognition to his vibrant research capability, he has more than
fifteen invited lectures/talks to his credit. At present he has been
awarded a research funding from the Department of Science and Technology of
Govt. of India for a project on developing intelligent sensing system
to detect the excessive presence of hazardous gases in manholes, which
is running in collaboration with the Bengal Engineering and Science
University, Shibpur.
During his tenure at Kalyani Government Engineering College, Prof. Dutta
organized as Coordinator one Short Term Training Programme of two weeks'
duration and a National level Conference. Both the events have achieved
overwhelming success. |
