Short Biography
Tomas Skopal received master degree in computer science from the Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic in 2001, and Ph.D. degree in computer science and applied mathematics from the Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 2004. In 2007, he defended habilitation thesis and became an associate professor at Charles University in Prague.

Currently he is an associate professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. He currently advises 5 PhD students. His main research interests are similarity search in multimedia databases, database indexing, image databases, and information retrieval. T. Skopal was a program-committee member of conferences SISAP 2008/2009, SERA 2008, ICDE 2007, DMUC 2007, ECIR 2006, and others, he reviewed journals paper for ACM TODS, ACM TOIS, IEEE Computer, ACM Journal of Experimental Algorithmics, Information Sciences, European Journal of Combinatorics, and others.
