Short Biography

Pavel Kordík is Assistant Professor at the Computational Intelligence research Group and vice-dean for development at the Faculty of Information Technology, CVUT. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2007. He coordinated the Automated Knowledge Extraction (2006 - 2009), GA AS CR, basic research project in the area of data preprocessing, data mining, modeling and information visualization. He was also responsible for the thematic goal Advanced methods for large data files processing of the Transdisciplinary Research in the Area of Biomedical Engineering II (2005-2011), research project. He received the best IT diploma thesis award (ACM, Microsoft) in Prague, 2003. He lectures courses on data mining, data preprocessing, computational intelligence and optimization and guarantees the Knowledge Engineering master specialization at FIT CVUT. He supervises 4 PhD students and several master students (more than 40 master theses in last 5 years). He authored or co-authored of more than 30 publications including journal papers and book chapters. He is reviewing for the following journals: IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Information Sciences, Neural Networks and others. He serves as Program Committee Member of the following conferences: KDD 2011, INSTA 2011, KEOD 2011.
