Short Biography

Dr. Saurav Karmakar received PhD from the Computer Science Department of Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA in 2011.  His doctoral dissertation is in the field of syntactic and semantic text mining. Before receiving his PhD he obtained one MS in Computer Science and one in Mathematics and Statistics from the same university. He hails from Kolkata, India originally and obtained his bachelors in Electronics & Communication Engineering from India before coming to U.S. During his doctoral days he used to hold multiple senior leadership positions in the student organizations and that lead him to win the Student Leader of the year award in 2011 from Georgia State University.

This year he received NSF grant for DHRV project as a Co-PI with other professors from Georgia State, University of North Florida and University of West Ontario. He is currently working as a research scientist in the field of natural language processing and text mining.
