Short Biography |
Olumide Babatope LONGE is on faculty at the Department of Computer
Science, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Currently a Fulbright SIR Fellow at the
International Centre for Information Technology and Development, Southern
University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, Dr. Longe holds a PHD in Computer
Science from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigerian. His doctoral
thesis which focused on the design and implementation of an outbound
antispam system for filtering fraudulent (419) mails was published by VDM
Publishers, Germany as a book in 2010. Dr. Longe has over
seventy scholarly publication that has appeared in reputable peer-refereed
Journals, Conference proceedings, Newsletters and edited books. In 2010, Longe
was listed among the leading authors on Privacy and Security research by the
Microsoft Research. A recipient of the prestigious John D. and Catherine T.
MacArthur Award and the MIT pioneer Science and Technology Initiative for
Africa, he is the Vice Chairman of the IEEE (Computer Chapter, Nigeria Section),
a member of the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), a member of the
International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Computer Professional of
Nigeria (CPN) and the Internet Society (ISOC). Dr. Longe has been honoured
locally and internationally for initiating research collaboration and exchange
program between Nigerian Universities and other foreign institutions. He also
received a distinguished national award for research and leadership
practices globally in the year 29011. He leads the NEPAD Council cyber security
Programme for Africa. He is the African Regional representative and Director of
Public Relations for the ICT-University, USA. He is the Editor of the
African Journal of Information Systems Special issue on Cybercrime and the Managing
Editor of the African Journal of Computing & ICT. Longe is a speaker at
information security and allied research conferences and workshop worldwide.
Using social theories and information security models. he is actively
researching into cybercrime causation, apprehension, treatment, prevention. |
