Short Biography
Dr. Shahram Rahimi is a Professor of Computer Science and Director of Undergraduate Programs at Department of Computer Science at Southern Illinois University. He is the Chief Editor of International Journal of Computational Intelligence and the Associate Editor of Informatica. He is also an editorial board member of a few other international journals in computer science and information technology. Dr. Rahimi has chaired multiple Information Technology related conferences and special tracks as well as participating in program committees of many major conferences. In fact he has served in over 50 program committees and chaired or organized 17 conferences or special tracks. Dr. Rahimi has over 150 peer reviewed research papers in journals and conferences and has given tens of invited talks, including Google Complex, Mountain view. In March of 2010, Dr. Rahimi was invited to join IEEE Computational Intelligence Committee for New Standards to lead the formal representation of a new web-based standard called Fuzzy Markup Language (FML). This international committee includes only 10 top scientist selected by IEEE. This is a truly extraordinary achievement that represents the quality of Dr. Rahimis research and his recognition. Dr. Rahimi has led many research and development projects for Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. department of Energy, and Southern Illinois Healthcare.
