José Luis Calvo Rolle was born in La Coruña, Spain. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of León, León, Spain, in 2004, and 2007, respectively.

He is Associate Professor of Automatic Control and the head of Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Coruña, Spain.

His main research interests have been centered in applying expert system technology to the diagnosis and control systems and in intelligent training systems for control engineering, optimization and education.
