| Short Biography |
| Punam Bedi is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi since March 2007. She was Head of Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi during Oct. 2005- Oct 2008. She also worked as acting Director, Delhi University Computer Centre from June 26 to Oct. 23, 2009. Before joining Department of Computer Science , University of Delhi in January 2002, she worked as a Lecturer/ Reader in Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi from January 1987. She did her Doctorate in Computer Science from University of Delhi in 1999. She did her M.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 1986 and M.Sc. in Mathematics from IIT Delhi in 1984. Her research areas of interest include designing and developing intelligent systems. She is using multi agent systems for the development of Intelligent Systems. Fuzzy Logic, Trust and Web Mining are the main techniques used for personalization of these systems based on users' interests. She is also working in the areas of Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant Colony Optimization, Robotics, Information Retrieval Steganography and Steganalysis.
She has guided Thirteen Doctorate students in the areas of Web Usability, Recommender Systems, Software Quality and Semantic Web. Seven students are working for their Doctorate degree under her supervision. She has also guided 70+ post graduate research projects at University of Delhi. Besides this, she is also a member of Advisory Committees of more than 10 Doctoral Students. She is a senior member of IEEE, senior member of ACM, member of AAAI and life member of CSI India. She has 200+ research publications in International/National Journals/Conferences. She was the Organizing Chair of International Conference on Information Systems Security (ICISS-2007). She also organized the Workshop on Computational NeuroScience (CNS 2007) as Co-ordinator in collaboration with National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Manesar, and International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). She is member of Program Committees and Organizing Committees of many National/ International Conferences. She is also on Editorial Boards of many Journals including Indian Science Abstracts, National Institute of Science, Communications and Information Resources (NISCAIR), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), INDIA. |
