Short Biography
Siby Abraham has a multi-disciplinary research background with special interest in Machine Intelligence. He has a track record of applying different Machine Intelligence techniques successfully in Mathematical, Computational, Biological, Social and Health Sciences. The domains where these techniques are applied include Bioinformatics, Computer Networks, Intrusion Detection, Learning Disability, Number Theory, Stock Market Prediction, Insurance Risk Assessment, Digital Image Processing and Linguistics.

He did his BSc in Mathematics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India in 1988 and MSc in Mathematics from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, India in 1990. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai, India in 2009. His PhD thesis explores different hard computing and soft computing techniques like Genetic Algorithm, Neural Network, Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant Colony Optimization, Hill Climbing, A  search, Simulated Annealing, etc, to find numerical solutions to a general Diophantine equation. The work further proposes the requirement of a holistic approach to computing which involves both hard computing and soft computing.

He has around twenty research publications in peer reviewed international journals / proceedings of international conferences. One of the papers he co-authored was awarded the best paper at the 7th IEEE International Conference on Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management Applications held at Ostrava, Czech Republic, June 26 - June 28, 2008. He has worked/ presently works as referees for many international journals and is a member of the technical committee for a couple of international conferences. He was a principal investigator of a research project funded by the University of Mumbai and has guided many Undergraduate/Post Graduate/ Research students in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai and from other Universities in India. He has worked/ presently works as a member in many decision making bodies of the University of Mumbai and is also a member of IEEE.

He has around twenty years of teaching experience in Computer Science and Mathematics. Presently, he works as an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai, India. He is also a visiting faculty in the Department of Computer Science, University of Mumbai, India for more than a decade.
