Short Biography
S. Nesmachnow (Minas, Uruguay, 1974) has a degree in Engineering (2000), a M.Sc. in Computer Science (2004), and the Ph.D in Computer Science (2010) from Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay. His Ph.D. Thesis "Parallel evolutionary algorithms for scheduling on heterogeneous computing and grid environments" received the best thesis award by National Engineering Academy in 2010. S. Nesmachnow currently holds an Aggregate Professor (Gr. 4) position at Numerical Computing Center, Engineering Faculty, Universidad de la Republica; Researcher Grade 3 at National Program for the Development of Basic Sciences (PEDECIBA); and Active Researcher Level 1 at National Innovation and Research Agency (ANII). His main research areas are soft computing, scientific computing, high performance computing, parallel metaheuristics, and their application for solving complex real-world problems. He has published over 50 papers in international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He currently serves as Editor in Chief fo, International Journal of Metaheuristics (Inderscience), and has been guest editor for other journals. He also served as reviewer for many journals and conferences, and has participated in several technical program committees of international conferences.
