Short Biography
Anand Jayant Kulkarni received Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 from the Board of Technical Education, Mumbai and Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shivaji University, India in 2002. He received Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence from University of Regina, Canada in 2006 and completed PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2012. He is currently working as Assistant Professor in University of Pune.

Anand has developed and incorporated a number of constrained handling methods into the emerging Artificial Intelligence technique such as Probability Collectives. The techniques have been tested solving a variety of problems related to Circle Packing, Sensor Networks, Multiple Traveling Salesmen Problem, etc. Anand has won ‘Third Best Research Proposal’ award at the Ph.D Consortium held in conjunction with ‘IEEE ICNSC 2010’ at Chicago. His Master’s thesis was related to the development of novel optimization method for optimizing Artificial Neural Networks using Genetic Algorithms.

Anand has published his work in several prestigious journals and conferences. He works as reviewer for the Journal of Applied Soft Computing and IEEE conferences such as IEEE IJCNN 2012, 2011, IEEE CEC 2011, FLAIRS-24 2011, IEEE WCCI 2010. He is a program committee member for FLAIRS-24 2011. He also served as scientific committee member for ISCSO 2011. Anand holds various professional memberships such as IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, ‘Young Researcher Committee’ for World Federation of Soft Computing (WFSC), International Association of Engineers (IAENG), International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ISSMO).

His research interests include Optimization Algorithms (Constrained), Multi-objective Optimization, Continuous, Discrete and Combinatorial Optimization, Multi-Agent Systems, Probability Collectives, Genetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization, Artificial Neural Networks, Nash Equilibrium, Game Theory, Computational Geometry and Numerical Methods.
