Prof. Vijayalakshmi Kakulapati received Ph.D in Computer Science & Engineering in the area of Information Retrieval from JNTU Hyderabad. She is working as a Professor in the Department of Information Technology, Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology and having around 25 years of industry and teaching experience. She is a member of various professional bodies like IEEE, ACM, CSTA, LMISTE, LMCSI, IACSIT, FIETE and few more. She is serving as an Editorial Board member to various International and National journals including Journal of American Association of Science and Technology (AASCIT). Apart from these she is continuously serving National & International Conferences as a program committee member and various International Journals including IJCT and Egyptian Informatics Journal. Track manager for   ICTIS, ICCII and ICDECT conferences.

She is having more than 120+ publications in National, International Journals and conferences. Out of these 50+ are Springer Chapters, 4 ACM, 8 IEEE and  5 in Elsevier. She took active role in two National Conferences and four International Conferences as Session chair. She has been received an Excellence in Research award from INDUS foundation and appreciation awards for high impact factor publication and conducting e-learning programs. she organized various Workshops include AICTE sponsored and DST sponsored workshops.

Her area of research includes theoretical and practical information retrieval problems, as well as machine learning applied to large scale textual applications. Her research has focused on retrieval models, query/document representations, term weighting, term proximity models, and learning to rank (machine learned ranking functions). She is interested in expanding the breadth and the depth of research into other related areas or fields of study. She has also passionate about seeing research problems applied to real world problems, especially those dealing with large, complex data sets. Along these lines, she is working with evaluating and designing novel search algorithms for web search, summarization. Currently she is working with big data analytics, health informatics, Data science, Artificial Intelligence and Deep learning, machine learning and Internet of Things. She invited as a key note speaker for her research in Health Informatics from Brazil, china and other countries.
