Short Biography

Mohammed A.-M. Salem is currently and since September 2016 Associate Professor in the faculty of Media Engineering and Technology, German University in Cairo, GUC, Egypt, on leave from Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He was born in Cairo. He received his B.Sc. degree in 1997 in Mathematics and Computer Science. In 2002 he received the M.Sc. degree in Scientific Computing from the Ain-Shams University in Cairo. In November 2008 he received the PhD degree from Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, Germany in Multiresolution Image Segmentation.

Dr. Salem has published a book and over than 70 papers in the fields of image / video processing. Since 2009 he has gained teaching experience for undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervised many Master’s students and 5 PhD students. He was a short-term post doctor at Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn, Germany in summer 2009 and summer 2010 and at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, Germany in summer 2012.  His research interests include: Machine and Deep Learning for Computer Vision, Multimedia Processing, Signal Processing, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
