I received my M.Sc in Computer Science from the
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2005 and a PhD degree from the University of Ulster (UK) in 2009 with the
thesis entitled “Strengthening Steganography in Digital Images”. My research
interests fall under the general theme of image processing including its
practical applications, e.g., medical imaging, 3D reconstruction, pattern
recognition, biometrics, steganography and watermarking. I have in record ten
international, peer reviewed, Journal papers, 26 peer reviewed international conference
papers, three patents granted and a book. I have won several awards, among
which: faculty of Computing and Engineering best literature review prize
(2008), best conference paper award given by the Institution of Engineering and
Technology, best PhD thesis award and a place in the UK Science week
competition for Britain's Top Younger Scientists, Engineers and Technologists (SET
for Britain 2009). I have been awarded a research grant from University of Ulster’s
Innovation centre worth £7,430 and co‐recipient of Proof of Concept (PoC)
funding from Invest Northern Ireland for £77,074 for project titled “Secure digital watermarks (SDW). The latter
project entitled us also to receive the Hi‐Tech category award sponsored by
Northern Ireland Science Park (NISP), the event was covered by BBC Northern
Ireland in 2009. At present, I am a Post‐doc research associate in medical
imaging at Ume? Centre for Molecular Medicine, Ume? Universitet, Sweden.
My current research is directed to enhancement of quantitative, qualitative and
spatial assessment of the OPT (optical projection tomography) data of normal
and diabetic pancreas. We are currently partners of an EU FP7 consortium named
VIBRANT (In Vivo Imaging of Beta‐cell Receptors by Applied Nano Technology).
