Short Biography
Professor Martin Purvis BS (Yale), MS, Ph.D. (Massachusetts), MFA (Columbia). Martin Purvis is Professor and Head of Information Science at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He is Director of the Software Engineering and Collaborative Modelling Laboratory, a centre for research in distributed mobile information systems and agent-based software engineering; Project Leader for the Global Network Interconnectivity Project, which develops research, enterprise training, and knowledge sharing activities to support new ICT technologies; Director of the Telecommunications programme in Applied Science at the University of Otago; Director of the Software Engineering programme in Applied Science at the University of Otago.

Professor Purvis's teaching activities involve telecommunications, software engineering, advanced distributed systems architectures, and intelligent modelling.
