Emeritus Professor Fawzi M. Al-Naima received both degrees of B.Sc. (First Class Honors), and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Newcastle University, UK in 1971 and 1976 respectively. He worked as a Lecturer and Associate Professor in Al-Rasheed College of Engineering, Baghdad, Iraq from 1977 to 1989. He worked with the College of Engineering, Al-Nahrain University, Baghdad-Iraq from 1989 to 2014. He served as Head of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 1992 to 2000, and as a Head of Department of Computer Engineering from 2000 to 2003, and then a Dean of the College of Engineering from 2003 to 2007 in the same university. Professor Al-Naima has been with Al- Mamoon University College, Baghdad- Iraq since October 2015. He spent one Sabbatical year in Aleppo University, Syria from Oct 2006 to Sept 2007 and one year as a Visiting Professor in the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan from Oct. 2007 to Sept. 2008.

His current research interests include intelligent optimization techniques, computer-aided design of large electrical circuits, analogue and digital signal processing, solar tracking systems and design of smart home energy management. Professor Al-Naima is a Life Fellow Member of the IETE, India since 1999 (FIETE), and a Senior Member of the IEEE (SMIEEE).
