| Short Biography |
| Vijayalakshmi Pai received her Master's (1984) and M Phil (1989) degrees in Applied Mathematics specializing in Computer Science (Faculty of Engineering) and Ph D degree in Computer Science specializing in Soft Computing (1999), from the PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India. She is presently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications, PSG College of Technology. Her research interests and publications span the disciplines of Computational Intelligence, Computational Finance and Pattern Recognition. She was the recipient of the AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers, 2001 - a National Award given to teachers who have established competence in their area of research specialization by the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi, India. She is the co-author of the book Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic and Genetic Algorithms- Synthesis and Applications ( Prentice Hall of India, 2003) the author of the book Data structures and Algorithms: Concepts, techniques and applications ( McGraw Hill Companies, 2008) and the adaptation author for the Schaum's Outline Series book on Data structures by Seymour Lipschutz (Tata McGraw Hill India, 2006) . She has been the investigator for many Computational Intelligence based research projects funded by Government agencies such as Indian Space Research Organization and All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi. She is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and life member of the Indian Society of Technical Education, Computer Society of India and Advanced Computing and Communications Society, India. |
