Short Biography
Vladimir Fursov holds a post of Professor in Academician Korolev Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU), Samara, Russia. In 1980, he received his PhD degree from Moscow Aviation Institute and in 1999 Doctor of Sciences degree from SSAU. The title of his doctoral dissertation is "dentification of models for pattern generation systems from small-in-number observations." He took part as investigator in more than 15 successful projects supported by RFBR, INTAS, BRHE and other national and international agencies.

He led and developed a number of research projects under the auspices of National Program "Hiigh Technologies" During his professional career, he developed several new methods of model identification for control system plants and for pattern generation systems, both restricted to a very small number of observations. He developed a new type of intelligent classifiers able to self-estimate their optimal parameters by means of training for pattern recognition under the restrictive condition of a small number of learning objects. As an expert in this field, he set up principles and theory of estimation from small-in-number observations and successfully applied them for image processing and pattern recognition systems. Now he is doing research in the area of high-performance parallel algorithms of pattern recognition and image processing which are implemented in multiprocessor computing systems.
