Short Biography

Dr. Nisheeth Joshi is an Associate Professor at Banasthali Vidyapith, India. He has done his Ph.D. in the area of Natural Language Processing. Being involved in teaching and research for over 13 years, he has developed the art of explaining even the most complicated topics in a straight forward and easily understandable fashion. He also has vast experience in handling large scale research projects. This has helped him in developing practical insights into complex AI systems. 

He is the recipient of the prestigious ISTE-U.P. Government National Award for Outstanding Work Done in Specified Areas of Engineering and Technology. He has authored several papers in international journals and conferences of repute. The topics on which he has published include Machine Translation Evaluation, POS Tagging, Morphology, Named Entity Recognition, Text Simplification etc. He has authored three books and two MOOCs. Two of his books have been translated into Chinese and one has been translated into Korean.

Dr. Joshi has also been an active reviewer who regularly reviews papers from Computer Speech and Language and Heliyon (both from Elsevier), International Journal for Intelligent Systems (Wiley), IEEE Access and Journal of Theoretical and Experimental Artificial Intelligence (Taylor and Francis). He is also a member of technical programme committees of International Conferences being organized in India and abroad. Some of these conferences are in their 15th/16th editions.

Dr. Joshi has also been a mentor and consultant to various start-ups working in the area of Cognitive Computing, Natural Language Processing, Speech Processing, Multimodal Information Retrieval and Machine Translation. He was also a consultant to C-DAC Pune where he developed the evaluation methodology for Mantra Machine Translation System. This Machine Translation System is being used by Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament of India and Department of Official Languages, Government of India. He has two technology transfers and four copyrights to his credit.
